Listen to the Rain
Enjoy my morning coffee and homemade biscuit.
Pondering the day
After one week of hot, humid, sticky weather, a welcome break, the temperature is 25 degrees less then it was, and there is a gentle but constant rain. It is lovely, the flowers in the porch pots are bright and perky, things look fresh and vibrant, my spirits included.
I got up, put on the coffee, and bake us some biscuits.
I really think I've got the hang of it now, I use the recipe on the back of the self rising flour. The only thing I change is I use buttermilk, Amish buttermilk, you can see the flakes of the butter in there. I think I was rolling the dough out too thin for one, I saw a video to roll and fold the dough it makes layers. They've come along way from the 1st batch.
Anybody for a game of Hockey?
The weather changes, and my appetite changes, I want to bake and cook, today is hubsters last vacation day for this week, he's taking the boys to a airplane museum, I opted out. I think I will steam the shawl and listen to rain, while I drink my coffee, ( not all at the same time ).
We've decided to have salads on Tuesday &Thursday, and try to eat a little lighter. So I am going to look up some variations on salads. I like the Cobb and Ceasar. With the onslaught of fresh vegatables coming soon to a local farm market, squash will be plentiful also.
Before a thunderstorm last week.

Thank goodness for cooler weather!! We had very little rain but the north wind feels good this morning. It was a good day for getting up calves to sell and this week looks like there will be good days to cut and bale more hay.
I need to try making biscuits again. When my girls were small I made them and now I'm out of practice; use those little Dough boy frozen ones. :)
How wonderful, when the Heat/Humidity broke!!!!!
Love to have windows open. But grateful for our 2 A/C wall units, which we can use, when needed. And we did need them, over that weekend.
Wheeeeew......
