Minding my own beeswax

Well, I havn't any bees to mind. However I decided to hunt around for beeswax, I think I will make some candles for the fall and winter months, maybe fragrance them with honeysuckle, or scented geranium, hmmmm. Actually beeswax the real stuff 100% natural is said to have it's own scent, clean and healthy.

I have not purchased any candles from the store in years, I don't know what's in them, and couldn't pronounce the names of the chemical if I did know what they were. Not healthy.

I have known for a while that the beeswax you buy at the craft store is not the real deal. It may have "some" beeswax in it, enough allowable by law to claim it so. But I want the real stuff. I actually found about a place 1.5 hours drive from my home, which has all kinds of beeswax and honey. There is no storefront..it is all on line. I've provided a link if you want to check it out. Check around your area for beekeepers.

I was surprised to learn that
  • 100% Pure. Beeswax candles do not require chemical processing. ...
  • Brighter, Longer Burn. Beeswax candles emit light that is similar to the light spectrum of sunlight. ...
  • Subtle, Natural Scent. ...
  • Air Purifying. ...
  • Environmental Impact.
I'm in the process of ordering the supplies I need, the votive molds, wick needles..but I forgot to order the wicks. I've got time, I'll see if I can't find some at a local craft store, The beeswax arrived, it smells so good all by itself. I'll not be adding any extras as far a s scents.

So a little time has passed since I first wrote this page. It's ready now.
This is the cut glass piece found at goodwill, isn't it lovely?  I've melted some of the 1# of beeswax down into these lovely little rosettes pellets. I'm going to finish melting today, and when I'm ready to make the candles they can all go in. The wax is to large for the cute little pot I bought, but the little pellets will fit fine. Next month...I'll make the candles.I should have taken a photo of the rose mold. I purchased it at a candy store. Would make darling candles tea lights it a little bigger don't you think.

  1. Those little rosettes are a delight, they certainly would make great tea lights.

  2. thank you, they really are pretty. I hate to melt them down :( I thought about the tea light briefly, I wonder how long those little ones would burn, and I need to investigate wicks for tea lights. I have ordered a larger silicone mold with 6 roses which may do the trick. Thank you for stopping....:)

  3. Thank you all for your comments. I like them too, they are so cute. I'll do a little experimenting when I make the votive.
