A beautiful morn and a simple joy

Mornin All!

It's 6:30 am, my usual get up time. The old bod doesn't know that we are on summer vacation, and we can sleep in a wee bit. I turned on the coffee and took our pooch out for his morning routine, he can't sleep in either. It's just me and my oldest here, the others are camping. It's pretty here in the city, I imagine in the country it is glorious.I could have went, it's a family campout. I dare say that if I got in the tent, getting out would be alot less graceful....and then there is the restroom issue....
oh bother....maybe sometime.

It is a really beautiful morning, there is a breeze, and those whispy angel wing clouds are drifting lazily across the light blue sky. It luxuriously cool and comfortable, I thought today might be a good day to harvest some Honeysuckle. I picked about a cup. Every once in a while I get that wonderful aroma of the Honeysuckle flowers...it's just so joyful.

I didn't know what I would do them, there are tinctures, and extracts...I don't know to much about them, and thought maybe I should start of small and simple, and do research for another time maybe for next year. There are alot of flowers and buds on the vine, so maybe I'll have another opportunity.

So I'm letting these air dry, and I think I'm going to add them to soap. I've still got some of the soap bar left from when I made the last batch, and I have some lavender seeds from my now very dead plant from last year...ooh this year it would have had alot of flowers. beeswax candles is another option.
I've got fresh rhubarb we bought in Amish, I've cubed it up, and added some Lemon Verbena sugar.
Cooking in ever so gently on the hearth. It will be prepared for freezing to later add the strawberries for pie when the winds are howling, and the summer splendor is over for a season.

It's a fresh beautiful morning ! Glad the old bod woke up early, I would have missed it.

Enjoy yours !

  1. I love lavender soap but have never tried making or even drying honeysuckle. It certainly sounds wonderful.

  2. I'm winging it...havn't started anything just yet, the honeysuckle flowers are still drying, and with this rain and humidity it will be a while...thank you for stopping over....

  3. You've given me inspiration to go out and gather a small handful of honeysuckle for a vase. It's breezy and cooler here this morning and less humid. The chickens are going out this afternoon and I'm looking forward to working in the sewing room more in the next two weeks.
