I was on the hunt for something to melt the beeswax in, I had in my mind I wanted something vintage. Perhaps a small aluminum coffee percolater, I've seen these around before. I didn't want to buy a brand new candle melting pot, the prices run the gamut, and I wanted something old.
I dropped of my bag and went inside. Two passes around the kitchen isle, I didn't see a percolator but I found this handy little item...maybe for gravy, or fondue? It is cute and vintage with a pour spout
$2.00.
I found this lovely....cut glass vintage pitcher, medium maybe used for oj? Darling. I left it there and we went back and I picked it up. $2.00 ( I didn't get a picture, I'll show it next time)
I've been wanting a pretty teacup,a vintage one, and up until today have not seen anything, this caught my eye...
There actually was an entire dinner set of the pattern.I bought 2 cups and 2 saucers, happy that they sold them seperately. I couldn't help thinking about how pretty those dishes were, I don't have a hutch. We have in our kitchen a built in cupboard with glass doors where I keep all my vintage pieces which were my moms and mil a few pieces. It really doesn't have room. I always look at dishes, but have not much need for them and no where to put them.but these are so darn pretty.
My husband and I went back so I could show him. They wanted $1.00 for the large plates, the bowls, and desert plates, plus I found 2 other serving dishes and a platter for a $1.00.
I picked up just 5, four and a spare of the dishes. They are just darling. My husband said
Happy Birthday...not until July 4th..but he doesn't have to buy me another thing....
they are so pretty.
I like the actual scallops and how they are hightlighed with the blue. I wonder who owned them, and she must have lovingly taken care of them. They were at GW 6 days. The rest are in a box,
I have some washing to do, and then...moving some of my lovlies around.

I used to collect Homer Laughlin china, but my collection is mostly hidden away in cabinets. One time I bought a beautiful sugar bowl and creamer from a complete set, and always regretted breaking up the set. Now and then I will use a platter when I have family dinners. I love the feel of china pieces. Maybe you could save spare change and go back and buy the complete set. When I was going to flea markets I saved quarters, rolled them into $10 increments and away I went. lol

ReplyDeletelil red hen, NEVER are you becoming a pest by commenting...I love hearing from you. I felt bad breaking up the set to. I'm sure there were other pieces which were already purchased or just were not there. I guess Goodwill figures it's most likely to sell in smaller increments. I've never had China before...this will be for special.
