Hello Happy Homebodies!
The weather has broken thankfully. Gone are the artic winds, ice, the snow is melting.
It is very nice to see grass. And yesterday I heard a Robin. The birds have been scarce at the feeder, I'm not sure if it is a feed problem or a bird problem.
After 4 months of grinding freshly milled flour for bread, I've come to the conclusion that it is not the flour, or the procedure, or even the recipe which is causing me to have inconsistant finished product. I believe it is the method in which the bread is being mixed & kneaded, which is a very important first step.
I have a 1970 Kitchen Aide stand mixer which belonged to my husbands grandmother. It still works well for almost everything, except....you guessed it the wheat bread.
The wheat bread is a heavier dough than white, and the old gal just can't muster up enough power.
I've retired the old gal, and she will be used for cookies, cakes etc, until she no longer can.
I've ordered a Nutrimill Artiste stand mixer. I am hoping this is going to be a game changer for making bread. So, I'm waiting on that.
A little crochet being done, working back into things and nothing to write home about. I'll have to get around and visit with you to see what you are up to.
Thank you all very much for your comments about Spanky....
Talk with you all soon!
