Good Day to All!
We are experiencing cooler more seasonal temperature, it is a very pretty day.
Yesterday we drove out to the farmers market, and I picked up some Rhubarb for pies. This morning I've cut it all up and it's going to the stove to simmer away. Hopefully next year I'll have my own Rhubarb to crow about. We'll see.
I've been baking my own bread for many years, of course when I was younger I made more of it, and more at one time. I don't bake bread on a regular schedule now, but more to when I feel like it, and today is that day. I've got a loaf of Amish White Bread on the first rise.
Sometimes I make Sourdough with my starter, sometimes I make overnight sourdough, and other times Amish White Bread. I found a really nice recipe for white bread a few years back, I cannot remember where I got it from, it is not my recipe. If you like to make bread and don't need or want to make more than one loaf at a time, this would be a good recipe for you.
This recipe works up perfect every single time, and it is very good bread.
Amish White Bread 1 loaf
1 cup hot water
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1/3 cup sugar
Combine these and let sit for 10 minutes.
then...add
2 tbls oil
3 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
Mix for 10 minutes in stand mixer or mix by hand.
The dough will be smooth. Place in a greased bowl let rise for 1 hr. Knead and place in baking pan.
bake 350, 20-25 minutes.
Enjoy!

There's nothing like homemade bread fresh from the oven, slathered with butter. Too bad it's so very hot today or I'd start a loaf right now. GM
The smell of home baked bread is such a joy. Your loaf of Amish Bread looks so lovely.
Yep there is no place like home.
God bless.
Oh yum! Bet your house smells wonderful 😍
