Rainy Days...somewhere not here

A repost from a year ago. A compare and contrast.

2024

It is hot, and we need rain, my garden and flowers are languishing in this heat which we don't usually get until August. The bloom is off the rose. The bleeding heart plant (below) was blooming a year ago at this time. I was able to overwinter it, and it bloomed early because of the warmth we had even back in late winter early spring. Nothing since.

If I mentioned it was a glorious day, then the weather was more temperate last year, I was out and about without much todo. Not the same this year.

Heart twig wreath I made a few years ago from sticks in the back yard.

2023

It really was a glorious day today.

This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice & be glad in it.

Isn't hard to rejoice about the beauty of this day. We busted out of the hood, and went for a ride in the country. It was blissfully un crowded. We were able to sail through without much ado and annoying people. We picked up I call the scratch n dent peppers. They have a little table at the back of the store, and it would be easy to miss it. Always head there first. All kinds of peppers 2-3 in a bag .99. I think we bought about 5 bags. In all of that one blemish was found and trimmed out.

I flash freeze these. After they are cut and washed, I put them on a cookie sheet, not touching and freeze them solid. Then put into a plastic bag for future use. Each piece is frozen on it's own. I divide them up and put them in plastic bags. Last year they made it all the way to the early spring.

We picked up some corn, and I went outside on my Hinta Pinta ( glider) and shucked that, keeping some of the fresh husk back for a craft project, once it's dried.

We passed a farm which had Blue Spruce Trees in a wagon $25.00, I love Blue Spruce & we were just talking about  getting one as our Rose of Sharon has died.

Oh such a joy it was to get  our of dodge....

Well I hope that you had a lovely day.....

Joy!

Good idea freezing diced peppers on a cookie sheet before packing them into a bag. I have some in the freezer but in plastic containers so I have no choice but to use the entire container once I've thawed it.( Or hack some frozen pieces out if I only need a half cup, say).
Blue Spruce are certainly beautiful. GM
