Chit chat over the clothesline

and various other chit chat and musings....

I'm enjoying yet another seasonal late spring day. I took the opportunity to make up another loaf of Amish White Bread, because the one I made 2 days ago, is gone.

Here

We are having some chilli for supper, and I made some cornbread from scratch as I have plenty of corn meal. And.....they are heart shaped with that nifty pan I got at the antique store a while back.

If you make cornbread, is your recipe sweet? I like both kinds, but I think I am partial to the sweet kind,

There is a box mix I like called Miracle Maize, pretty good, but I can't replicate it.

Making progress with the hook.

This morning I made the tincture with the Honeysuckle, a most time consuming but enjoyable practice, each flower one by one. I must get a picture of the bush. I had bought the Honeysuckle from the garden club, it was just a bare root, never thought it would take. It may be 7-8 years old now. Smells lovely. I also put some in the dehydrator as I would like to make some creams or salves. I'm growing Calendula also.

Honeysuckle Bush

I took this picture in the afternoon, the blooms are hard to see.

I like cornbread both sweet and also the spicy kind but since I seem to be the only person that likes either I rarely make any. There's a site that has "recipes for one"...maybe there's a recipe for cornbread for one . Must check that out.
Honeysuckle bushes are better than the vines I think because mine has become totally crazy and invaded the nearby Deutzia. It (the honeysuckle) crawls along the ground until it comes to anything it can creep up. When it has finished blooming we'll pull it out and move it (after trimming it back seriously). GM

I plan on hopefully growing calendula next year. I finished my dandelion oil (need to make salve) and am working on getting enough lavender buds to make oil and then salve or lotion.

I wonder if I can find a honeysuckle and give that a try....

God bless.

Jackie, I have tons of it on my ever sprawling plant. I can pull some for you & dehydrate it.
