Update HollyHock
It is just about ready to flower, I did see a hint of pinkish red today on one of the blooms.
Back Off Rosebud!
The weather has been very hot and humid, these type of clouds lovely and billowing every day, not much rain.

My hollyhocks aren't that tall but are also about ready to show color. Aren't they just a happy flower?
The hollyhock is looking beautiful, along with the clouds very majestic.
Rosebud, don't eat the hollyhocks! I know they are deer candy, but keep your nibblers off of them! I planted four tiny hollyhock roots, and only 1 came up. It's the size of a small dandilion so maybe next year. In the meantime, I can't wait to see yours!
I have been reading about them, and am happy this one took and found it's own special place,after I had given up.
It is a beautiful flower, the first one popped today. A joyful anticipation. I had never seen one before, only in pictures.

That is what happened with this one. I gave it up for dead, it resurfaced and then my deer friend Rosebud....you know that story. I was surprised when it came back in the spring. It flowered today....oh so pretty, I have never seen a Hollyhock before.
Yay for your blooming Hollyhock!!! Hopefully it will bloom, drop seeds, and next year they'll all pop up.
I saw a deer yesterday. I am seeing many more, but I hope they enjoy the crops vs. my garden too.
Oh I would be so excited about the Hollyhock. I planted two tubers (guess that's what you call them) this spring. Both have come up and are about 2 feet tall. Will they bloom this year?? The deer are here too...nibbling on many of the plants. Can't wait to see your Hollyhock in full bloom. That was one of my Mother's favorite flowers.
Your Hollyhock is beautiful. So tall and straight, mine always seemed to lean in one direction or another.

It is pretty, but I cannot take any credit for it. Mother Nature put her there, as that is not where I put the seeds. :) at least that I can recall. This is a two summer project. She is lovely, and I am thankful she was able to bloom and thrive, and I've not had my hand in it at all. She is tucked into a corner where the stairs meet the house.
