Indian Summer

We are I think into Indian Summer. Warm temperatures above 70 just for a few days, it just magnifies all the beautiful colors in the changing leaves. I will get out today and enjoy, I need to pick up some wild bird seed. So I can make my little feathered
friends happy.

Tomorrow is punkin carving day. A tradition since my boys were little. I usually make cookies (sugar), and we have cider and make punkin seeds. The sugar cookies I make are drop cookies, ( no rolling).

Here is the Recipe!

Sugar Cookies

Bake @ 350  10 min

Yield 36-48 (depending on size you drop)

Ingredients

½ cup sugar

½ cup powdered sugar

½ cup softened butter

1 egg

½ tsp vanilla

2 ¼ cup flour

½ tsp cream of tartar

½ tsp baking soda

½ cup oil

Sugar for dipping glass

Cream: Butter, sugars until creamy, add egg & vanilla, mix well.

Sift Flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda. (salt optional if using salted butter)

Alternating flour mix, & oil into the creamed mixture, stirring until smooth.

Drop by spoonful onto parchment covered cookie sheet.

Flatten each cookie with a decorative glass if you have one, so the design is etched into the cookie.

But first- dip the moistened glass in some sugar and press the cookie down.

Enjoy! It will be to warm to bake these today, tomorrow will be a better baking day.

And.........

We  are working the vintage swag lamp. I hoping to have them re wired over the weekend. If you missed that post.Follow the link  below. I'm not sure yet if we are going to hang both of the cut glass bulbs or just one, we'll see how that goes. I may try my hand at wiring the new sockets and cord. My husband will make sure it's ok. He's got to find the stud in the ceiling to hang it from, I'm trying to move this along....know what I mean?

Show & Tell Vintage Light

Let's see what else? I have not worked any further on the Dresden other than to cut a background. This I believe will just be one dresden, it's not going into a quilt, but rather will be a mini quilt or square.

Thank you to those who visit & to those who also comment. I see I have a few new neighbors who have joined along. Thank you. I'd love to see what you are doing at your blog too.

It's homemade beeswax candle time. And of course it looks simply charming in Vintage Cut glass candle holder. Simple Joy. Now more then ever before, these type of beauties are special and we need to find these things and add them to our lives, to keep the chaos at bay .

Peace!

  3. I just copied out the cookie recipe and will make it this afternoon. I like sugar cookies but I'm not a big fan of fussing with rolling out the dough and using cookie cutters. I did that for years but now I guess I'm getting lazy. ((hugs))

    1. I've never liked cookies you had to roll. I've made them but not my favorite, and as I get older simple ways of doing things work out fine with same result.
