Bandwagons and Crochet

My crochet hexy ghan, made many moons ago now , and an everlovin peony from my garden, from a summer past.

 I love the scent of these.

I've been in loop with this for years, more than I care to admit. What I will tell you is that the one thing after all of this, as my friend at J's knit and purl jam,  "if you don't know what to do, than do what you know." It good advice, simple and down to earth. 

Crochet.....wanted to do something....craft fairs, etsy, design....I want to do something but what, what for the love of God. I did one craft fair....didn't do well, and for years after that I have considered doing more...but I just cannot bring myself to do it, it's just not for me. I did a small stint on Etsy, didn't work out either. I attempted to make some thing for a consignment store, zip zero nada.  I do make some things for the prayer shawl at church, that is different and I'm ok with that.

So the obvious remaining option is design. Or is it?

I've dabbled along with this, I don't know it just doesn't come easy to me. I am not overflowing with ideas. Follow your Niche they say....what is my niche?  And what makes my niche mine, may not be somebody else's cup of tea. The object is to make a few dollars to support my yarn habit. I'm not in it to make allot of money, gain followers, advertisers and have something which runs me. I look at what other folks have designed, and good for them, some of the items don't look to complicated, and they are definitely speaking to a particular audience. 

Who is my audience? So I guess that is the first thing I need to figure out, and go from there..I guess that would be the "Niche", but more importantly I think the most obvious answer

"when you don't know what to do is do what you know," knowing myself the way I do, I tend to gravitate toward a particular type of crochet whether it is thread or yarn, I love the look of vintage items, and they must be functional and or decorative for my home. Huh! I think I found my niche,   

So I guess my bandwagon is....none of the above.  The design option is something which intrigues me, and it also stresses me. I may be over analyzing the entire thing. I can safely say that I will not do the first 3 options, I'll leave my option open for the design.

So for now....I'll just stick with moving my hook.Making progress on the vest, the back and one side is complete, working now on the 2nd front side. 😉

I always say that I like simple things and ways of doing things, so now this is the time and place to do just that. I don't do alot of social media,  it's just to much, and I've found that I still get a great amount of satisfaction from just doing my blog, where I started back in the day. All that glitters is not gold. Faster and immediate are not always the best way, nor is exposing your entire life, or assuming someone else is interested in looking at endless pictures of someone else.

I appreciate the time in my day for doing something which will be a benefit,
Closing down social media, which doesn't give me any pleasure, and takes up a huge amount of my time,and opening up huge amounts of time for my creative talents, and priorities around the homestead.
I am a creative, it is a gift from God and he will show me what's next.
