A tisket a tasket hey BOO BOO!

Greetings Happy Homebuddies!

Would you believe it got to 51 degrees F, we got out of Dodge, and drove south to Amish country, where I must tell you the snow was much prettier than hear in the hood.

Birds were singing, sun shining, warm enough for a light jacket or not one at all. This temperature in the middle of summer would be considered cold; everything is relative isn't it.

It was a lovely day overall, and the beauty part no traffic.

So we stopped at our favorite antique store. I've been looking for something to keep my crochet thread in. I don't like keeping with yarn. I thought about an Amish made basket, I do have one and keep my yarn in it. When it is full, I don't by yarn. I'm there now.

Looking around the antique store were many baskets, mostly I would say were very overpriced and not overly special enough to pay. My husband spotted one a nice basket, $100. No, not the one. I looked at a few here and there. I saw just the corner of this one peeking out as there were things stacked upon it.

I carefully removed the items, and found this lovely vintage picnic basket $15. It will hold all my threads very nicely. I thought about who may have owned it, the pic nics they took as a family and what might have been in the basket.  Fried Chicken? Bisquits, maybe a pie. What fun times they must have had. I wonder where the picnic basket traveled to.

That is my story & I'm sticking to it. Thread going in it today. I'm making chicken soup, we've got a sick one in the family even with all this cold. And, I've got some curtido fermenting.

You never know what you will find under a stack of 'stuff'.

They are indeed, this one has been used by a family from long ago. It carries not only my yarn but happy memores.

Such a lovely basket and at such a good price. It will be wonderful for your yarn. Yes, I bet this would have wonderful stories to tell of picnics in it's lifetime!
