Happy Homebody Monday-Broom Corn

Happy Homebody Monday!

Broom Corn!

Have you ever?

We had a lovely ride out of Dodge and into the country, hit the Farmers Market looking for a corn stalk.

While there I ran across a small table of broom corn. I had never heard or seen it before. I thought it was rather pretty, and functional in previous times.

article here

I'm harvesting the Mexican Oregano & Basil, drying it for use over winter. I hope to save the plants, but some of them are for more temperate climates. On the crochet front...I've got some cotton yarn, and I'll try my hand at dishcloths/washcloths.

I have never see broom corn before and how pretty it is. Do you plan to make decorations with it? What dishes do you use for the Mexican Oregano and basil? Is there a difference in the Mexican Oregano versus the regular oregano? Crocheting dishcloths and washcloths is such a satisfying and relaxing way to crochet. Enjoy these autumn days!

Hmmm, I have never heard of broom corn, but the article was very interesting.

God bless.

I'm not sure what to do with the broom corn, I've just left it as is. I use the Mexican Oregano for a fermented dish called Curtido which I found the recipe over the summer. It smells like Oregano, but has a lime/lemon overtone. It is a little more savory. Thank you for stopping over.

Never have I either before I saw it. I've never seen it at the Farmers Market before. I have read that you can grow your own.
