Tinkering with yarn making something pretty.

Cross My Heart Shawl

Making good progress on the shawl, I've finished up the back about 12 or 14 repeats, and have worked 25 rows for one tie, one skein did the entire back, and now I'm  working on the 2nd skein. I bought 3 skeins to make sure I had enough.  The lovely yarn changes colors, during my evening hook moving, it looks like a chocolate brown. In the day time, you can see the lovely color of the yarn,
Hobby Lobby Soft Secret French Lilac...

This is one I made for myelf.  Made with Hobby Lobby Soft Secret-Bisquit Color. I did make the ties longer on the current one, so they tie nicely and don't look to short.

Keeping busy inside doing perfect indoor chores & moving the hook. Been to JoAnn's found nothing to buy, and a quick run to our closing AC Moore, the same nothing to write home about.  I like to check out the seasonal merchandise, "sometimes" you find cute things. But recently I took alot of cute things I never use to Goodwill. So I used some restraint.  I don't need any yarn at the moment as I am working on the shawl, sticking to the promise I made myself, no more yarn unless it's for a project.   I take that back, I did find 2 delightful decorative  boxes at Joann's 60% off. I'll be posting about those soon I figure.

Staying warm and indoors this weekend..the Scouts are going camping, it's cold & icy,
no school today. Youngest tallest gets a day off.

Enjoy your weekend!

    1. You are very welcome, and how nice is it that you actually returned the visit, left a comment and now are a rosebud. I appreciate that you took the time. Don't be a stranger.

  3. Don't you just love those pretty boxes meant to hold treasures? I love organizing my 'stuff' in them, in fact I've been doing that this afternoon. Going through my scrapbook supplies and filling a box to give away.
The soft lilac shawl is gorgeous but I like the pretty neutral coloured one that will go with everything.
Happy Friday to you. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Oh yes they are wonderful little treasure troves. I have one for my small handmade crochet items, doilies and such. The other 2 are yet to be filled. But they are so pretty.

  4. Good for you not succumbing to the sales. I too am trying to use some restraint. Beautiful projects.

  5. Thank you. As I get older, I find that I need or want less. So if I buy it now. I really want it. I'm tired of going to Goodwill with thins I thoughtI would need or use "someday".

  6. Love that Lilac color!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope your ice, was not too bad. And that the Scout camping, was doable.

We survived our Ice Storm, with power intact. But many, were not so lucky.

  8. Such a beautiful shawl! It certainly will keep you warm!

We are staying inside right now while Lizard rehabs, but we are hoping to get out soon. Soon may not happen fast, but I'll be ready for it whenever it does happen!

We keep Irish Springs on each of the heater vents. It's supposed to keep flying bugs at bay (can't say it makes that much of a difference), and it makes the house smell nice for a few weeks. I tried a bar of English Lavender in the bedroom once, but it's cheaper to buy a lavender candle, and it lasts longer. :)

  9. Do you have a Dollar Store in your area? At ours, they carry the Yardley English Lavender Soap. Remember that throwback? Fruit Flies? Red Vinegar, add a drop of dishsoap, cover with saran wrap, and poke a few holes with a toothpick, you can secure it with a rubberband, it will trap the little devils.
