August already! Well, it's almost through the month, I'm behind in the posting.
I get really excited because I can haul out my Fall decorations soon.
In the Celtic calender this begins the season of Fall on August 1st. I notice here especially in the morning it is much more quiet, the birds are not as active, and not as vocal. The cicadia making that lovely sound that you only hear in the fall. The harvesting of the garden, all pointing toward fall.
lt is my favorite season.
I havn't hauled out my fall decorations, but am itching too. It seems that season in particular goes by way to quickly. I did put up on the mantle a fall garland so far.
I picked up some Chocolate Mint, and some Peppermint at the nursery, buy one get one.
So yesterday, I chopped off some of the Chocolate Mint, and am making an extract. I'll do the same with the peppermint, once I figure out where I put my jars.
We got a really nice amount of tomatoes this year, not overly so. They were big too. I have one squash...I'm grateful for that. Sweet potatoes are still in the pot..we'll see about those.
Over all I'm pleased with the garden this year.
Hope you are all well and harvesting.....
simple joys!
I wish there would have been chocolate mint at the plant shop. I would have bought one for sure. You wondered what I was going to do with the Helichrysum. I really only bought it because I find it lovely and it was cheap. I'm keeping it on the enclosed porch and hoping it stays lovely all winter.
ReplyDeleteI dragged the big Rubbermaid tub full of Fall stuff out and I may have taken a few things out of it. Fall is such an amazing time of the year!!
I think I had one of these at one time. It is a pretty plant. Yep, I have tubs where I keep my seasonal things. I'll be dragging that out soon, fall is amazing I agree. I wish it would last a wee bit longer though.
DeleteOur garden had some great successes, but a few failures as well. Won't be planting scarlet runner beans again as we only got 4 beans.
ReplyDeleteLove chocolate mint but I have never thought of making extracts. I must remember that.
God bless.
You can if you like choose to watch a you tube on how to do this if you have never. A Good Life Farm.
