Pink Flamingos and baking a cake today!

Mother Natures vaccum is in full swing today,68 degrees and feels like springtime. I've got a cake in the oven for my husbands birthday is approaching. He requested a yellow cake. I got the receipe out of this vintage cookbook. I think this is the most informative cookbook I have ever  seen, perfect for the new bride of the '50's, and is still relevant today from cuts of meat, how to prepare, set a table.

I'm sitting here in my newly assembled apron. I like it. The only thing I would do different is make the straps a wee bit longer. I ended up taking off the excess fabric on the sides as it was not after all necessary. I took a picture but you really cannot tell it's an apron.

and then...there is this...I'm sitting here taking 5 waiting for the cake to cool, so I can frost it, I'm looking at the Christmas Cactus...and I noticed that the blooms like birds flying. Do you see it? Or do I have an overactive imagination. The camera doesn't quite capture it, I found it to be quite stunning.

Well anyway have a nice weekend.

I didn't see the birds flying until you mentioned it then it was quite obvious!! I hope mine look like that too once they're fully open. There's actually sunshine today and it's in the window so maybe that will encourage the buds to open fully.

I can't take credit for all these buds, I just bought this a week ago. I never noticed the birds in flight on others I've had, maybe because this one is white.

We all have creative imaginations, I'm not just off my rocker.

The flowers look like a flock of doves. Beautiful.

God bless.

The blooms look like beautiful doves flying. Maybe tropical doves, if there are such.

Amazing isn't it?
