Nobody can say that I don't try, make some effort ever! I give it the good old college try, I really do.
So...the beautiful fabric which I ordered and SHOULD BE 44x45 isn't. It is 39" across. There is selvedge on both side which means that is as wide as it can be right?
I've contacted the company, not that anything can be done about width of the fabric, but they can at least fix their description. I'm a little agitated. I'm a bit "fluffy" as they say. If I was svelt the shortage would not be a problem. The story of my life.
So, now.....?
Suggestions?
I've 1 3/4 of 39" directional fabric. A different pattern perhaps? This one was straightforward and supposed to "easy" for me the sewing challenged.
Oh Bother.!
Let me ask you this?
Could it have shrunk 4" when I washed it? It was washed in cold water, and hung on the line to dry?
Hmmm? Well I suppose that is a possibility? Being "sew challenged", and not having a remote clue of such things, I suppose so. Following directions again. You see if I would have just done it my way and not washed it, it might of being correct in it's measurement, and would have shrunk after I made it and washed it.
Me thinks I'll just go ahead and make it anyway....
Suggestions are appreciated.!

I doubt with cold water and a line dry that it would shrink. I don't have suggestions, but maybe someone will.
Is this for the apron?
Yes, this the fabric for the apron, how about it being 4" less than it was advertised for. I could make curtains, or I could wait and loose more than several pounds over a period of years..hee hee...always an adventure for me. Things don't come east at all, if they do I ? it.
I've moved on to something else somewhat less painless, but it's still sewing. NOT MY FORTE. but darn it I keep trying. Where is my hook and yarn?
Maybe a 2" border each side of a different fabric or lace edge might work.
If you have a coordinating solid, you could just stitch a 2" strip (+ seam allowance) to each side to make it the width you need then treat it like it is the proper measurement.
this is a very good idea. The fabric has some patches of small red polka dots, maybe I could find soething like that...uhh...more sewing. But it is something I think I could do...thank you
Two great minds thinking alike. What wonderful blogging friends. Thank you so much.
It actually could have shrunk a little bit, but I think adding another bit of contrasing fabric would be lovely.
God bless.
