Melting beeswax for candles

 Hello One and All!

A short post today, I'm making a beeswax candle. Just one. I started late in the day, and I've got supper on. I've made them before usually votive. But I was able to secure a silicone mold from where I get the beeswax, as they are selling off their molds and are concentration on the beeswax/honey portion of their business.

The mold I purchased from them is a silicone one, with a design. It's cooling now.

On the sourdough front

after a few failed attempts. I think I am on to something. I'm on day 4 of the process. It smells good and is a bit foamy. I got the recipe and instructions from

Mary's Nest

I've closed up the the Etsy shoppe and removed myself from Instagram. Better use of my time and energy. More productive creative time.

Well that was yesterday.....

as my mother used to say haste makes waste....A new day, trying the candle thing again. I tried to remove it to soon yesterday and it was not cooled. I don't know what the hurry was, so I began again today. The wax is in the little crockpot salvadged from Goodwill.

The sourdough starter appears to be a go, and so I've made the sponge which will proof for 6 hours or so, and maybe fingers crossed, I can make sour dough bread from a starter.

The aroma of warm beeswax is beginning to waft around the homestead...

Lovely!

I love the scent of beeswax :-) I tried to make a SD starter once - it did not smell good (haha)

me too multiple times, this starter begins with 2 tbs rye flour..check out the link to Mary's nest. Give it a try. I've got a loaf in the oven using the starter I made. The smell, varies. First it smelled like beer, at one point reminded me of nail polish remover, as it progressed along it just smelled yeasty.

I hope your candle turns out okay Faith. I have been making soy candles today & the tops of them are not great ... these are for an Order so really need to be better than they are - time for a repour I think. Your autumn crochet angel is beautiful!

Too bad about your first beeswax candle but I assume you could re-use that wax. Beeswax smells so amazing!
I can imagine how good your sourdough bread will be. Yum.
