Another year older!

Happy Birthday to the United States of America.

& also to me!

Well here we are smack dab in the middle of the summer, and the weather for the week is going to tell that story. Hot & Humid. Watering the garden & the pots every day, and filling the bird bath for the critters who stop by.

Making a cheesecake for my birthday, the 1940 Freezecake Cheescake. A family favorite around here, I've posted about it and the recipe more than a few times. Check the labels and you'll find something about them under Cheescake.

I ordered a few things over the last few weeks which I will tell you about when they arrive.

Should be today, I like getting packages. Don't you?

If you are not familiar with Kate over at the Last Homely House, you are in for a treat when you visit. It's like sitting down with an old friend, as she says "chatting about".

So my husband bought me the candles for my birthday. They are the summer ones, all bright and cheerful picked by Kate from her local area candlemaker Ted,they are beeswax. It will be so neat to get a package from Kate, just in time for my birthday.  

They have not arrived yet, I'm not sure how long things take from UK.

And then, there is this....

We've lived in this house for 25 years, this is the 1st time this has ever bloomed, in fact I thought we dug it up years ago. I read that this is a Yucca plant, and it can grow just about anywhere, and this is the proof. Our soil is poor, it's clay, you can't really dig in it or plant anything very deep.

But I was pleased when these bloomed. They are pretty arn't they? It is a tall plant about 5'.
