Sturdy Pantry...for times such as this.

Image result for vintage pantry clip art

Pantries were born out of necessity, back in the day.
There wasn't a grocery store or food place around, people made do with what they grew,  harvested, and preserved.
I've always kept a sturdy pantry. I don't can anymore. But I do keep it stocked up for time such as we are in now, or will be in at some time. My husband calls it the 2 bin system. Always have a spare.
When the stores have sales on canned vegatables or soup, pasta  get a few more items. TP same thing, dish soap, coffee..

My pantry is a shelf in the basement, and  a kitchen cupboard upstairs.

We have an extra freezer, I buy meat when they have BOGO, and make many meals out of one cut of meat. Whole chicken same thing. Soup and a meal out of the same bird.

Build the pantry every shopping trip, an item or two. It keeps it simple.

We have lost, well I shouldn't we, but there is a entire generation of people who have no idea that people lived without fast food, and grocery stores on every corner. These folks have no idea how to cook, prepare, shop, or save for a rainy day.

This causes what we are seeing now with this Panic shopping..
What? is this all about. I realize some don't have storage space, as we are limited here, but I have and you have cupboards, or a garage or basement, or even a closet where you can store extra non perishable foods & supplies.

What happened to soap and water? Why? is there a run on hand sanitizer?
My husband was behind a lady in a store who purchaed ( I kid you not) $130.00 worth of hand sanitizer. I personally don't like hand sanitizer, I don't get the clean feeling like I do with soap and water. I do carry it, but use it after I've pushed a cart. I wash when I get home, with soap and water.

I'm not a germaphobe. I grew up in the 60's..we drank from the garden hose, we caught colds, we ate real food, played in the dirt, and used soap and water, I live to tell about it. I'm 62.

I just don't get it. I am living in a world I know longer recognize.

Then you have your staple items.....
Flour, Yeast, Sugar, Eggs, butter, milk & Coffee
always every shopping trip these are on the list.

Don't Panic-Be Prepared.
