Lovin from the Oven

I started a batch of overnight sourdough bread yesterday, I put in the cold oven to rise and do it's thing yesterday at 3:00. It's been 18 hours now, and I'm heating the dutch oven now, and the dough is rising.

The recipe for this can be found up at my recipe box tab.

Ham and bean soup for supper, it is a beautiful "typical" late fall day, a great day for soup.

This is from the original posting about the recipe. this is after 4 hours, after 13 it is nice and fluffy bubbly. There is no sugar in this recipe. The overnight time allows the yeast to do it's own thing, so the bread will be densy/holey and chewey with a crispy crunchy crust. Great with soup or salad, and of course warm from the oven slatthered with just a teeny bit of real butter....well, a good bit of real butter. The olives are optional, and add a salty dimension and texture to the bread.

Have a simply beautiful weekend.

It's definitely a day for soup here too. You make me want sourdough bread too, but crackers will have to do. I used to keep sourdough starter in my refrigerator, but somewhere along the way I let it go. I love the beautiful crochet work above this post.

That sounds delicious, even though we don't care for sourdough bread. -smile- But the thought of it, warm from the oven, with butter (real of course!) on it..... Mmmmmmmmmmm....

And with soup!!!!!! Yesss!

What a pretty bowl you are using to rise it in.

Enjoy your perfect Autumn day. Here, we are rainy. And cold.

I have a Crock Pot Chicken recipe bubbling away. Great for such an icky day.

But have to stop that "icky" business. It's Hibernate Time. It's cozy at home time. Have to keep reminding one's self of that.... On typical Nov. days, like this. -smile-

I thank you for all the comments. This bread is not started with a starter as you will see by the recipe,it is "sourdough" like I suppose. Holes, crispy cruncy crust. No sugar, or oil. It is leavened with yeast, flour and salt that is it. The bowl is a mixing bowl from the PW ( Pioneer Woman ). I like the pattern, but she doesn't have alot with this pattern unfortunately. I like the lacy doily look. It snowed here today, big puffy fluffy flakes...didn't stick. Not upset about that. Thank you all for stopping over,

I've heard of sourdough left in the fridge for days before being brought out and left to rise on the counter before putting it in the oven. I really must try it one day.
I'll bet those big flakes of snow falling looked so pretty. We don't get snow that often but when we do I sit and watch it come down.

Re: Your comment on my blog...

Me too!!! I'm not a fan of taking down and putting away decorations either!!! In fact, I am trying to talk myself into putting the few Halloween/Samhain decorations on the mantle, away!

And I can't even think about putting Christmas/Yule decorations up, until these are down. -smile-

I hope everyone enjoyed seeing, all the different replies, to this question. I sure did!!!!
