Hello Howdy do?
Taking a rest today, the last few days have been busier then normal for me, going through things, and purging, trips to goodwill. We don't have alot of room here, there are 4 of us and frankly....there just is not enough space. So I've bought some tubs, went through all the yarn/thread and craft items. I've kept all the yarn and thread, a little fabric and everything else---Goodwill. I do crochet more than anything else, I'm not a yarn hoarder, and don't binge buy those things. On rare occasions, I purchase something and never use it, I really try not to do that. Things were scattered here and there, if you can't find what you need how do know what you have?
I've got more crochet steel hooks than I'll ever need, going to go through those as well. It has become to complicated. I don't have a craft room, and have given up the hope that I ever will, so why buy more for someday when I have......( fill in the blank) .Someday...never comes.
I just bought those other crochet hooks at the consignment shop, I believe I will keep those, they are in my crochet basket. So today, maybe I'll look through and see what all that loose stuff is about.
I went through all the printed patterns I have downloaded, I kept a few of my favorites and the rest were tossed out. My binder is much neater and lighter now. In the process I found a leaflet for something I ordered maybe 5 years ago...I'm keeping it. I've tried more than a few times to begin it and loose interest or get tired of the process. I have decided once again to attempt this pattern,it will be my long haul process, and I will keep notes and mark rows where I left off. I'm taking my time.
I suppose I should tell you what it is?
This is a very pretty pattern, however the stitch is very tight, and counting is necessary. So I get a little weary with it. So far, I'm on the bodice, which I am on the 3rd pass of that, somthing doesn't look right. So I changed hooks went to a steel 7, and tried an ivory color for the bodice. For whatever reason it is working out better, and I'm on count track. I will use the "Rosebud" color thread for the dress, and maybe pink for the ruffles like in the picture...I like those colors.

The picture doesn't do it justice, but the name of color is true.
Have a beauty!
Ah-h ~ Someday ~ I know that word all too well! :) For years I did my sewing on the dining table, then in the corner of the laundry room. And then my girls grew up and left home. There were empty bedrooms, so I took one for my sewing room. The farmer made cabinets for the machine and fabrics. It's pretty crowded with the quilting frames which stay up all the time, and the ironing board (I press all my seams as I sew), but if I want to leave a project with scattered pieces of fabric scraps on the floor, I can just close the door and go back when there's time. Your "someday" will come ~ we'll keep hoping; I always remember the Bible verse, "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." Romans 8:25 I know the verse wasn't meant for sewing stuff, but I like it. ;)
ReplyDeleteIn reply to Sandra's comment, I think of things I'd like to blog about but feel a little shy to return. Maybe "someday".
Good luck with your project, I imagine patience is needed here the stitches are so small.
ReplyDeleteThis is an older post, but the title caught my eye! "The older I get, the simpler I want things." Oh yes!!!!! I sooooo agree!
