Good Morning !
Oh my it's been a busy few days, that Eagle Scout Project my youngest/tallest was working on, is 99% done, and will be delivered to the beneficiary of the project. The ball is picking up speed, now and the momentum has shifted. Paperwork, lots of paperwork, details, dates and so forth are being compiled.
6% of the boys who enter Boy Scouts will become Eagle. And of those who do not, being in Scouts, attaining ranks, and merit badges, helping their communities and learning life and leadership skills it is still a worthy journey, the scout doesn't lose. Youngest/tallest is fortunate to have a Father who is an invested, and contributing participant, never misses a meeting or campout. And me, the mom, who supports and keeps things archived, bakes brownies, and sews on patches. We are involved parents.
It's not the case with all the boys, some are dropped off, parents are not involved, and yet the kid comes back week after week. Some are from broken homes, no Dad present. Scouting for these kids becomes a very important place, as this may be the only place where they have a real role model in their lives which is male, a positive role model. But they too have potential, and positive reinforcement and can accomplish.
Mixed emotions hereπ’, time flies and waits for no man. I get a little teary eyed, it went so fast, and he begun the journey from Cub Scouts, this seemed like it forever away, and then he made the transition from cub to scout...and I watch him change into a young man before my eyes. And now..he will be an Eagle Scout next month. ππ’π
Trying to hold it together..that won't be easy.
So anyway, his Eagle Project is for a American Flag Retirement Box.
I never knew that Flags had to be retired before we joined Scouts, they must be retired with honor and dignity. The scouts have a retirement ceremony, it is a very solemn, and is precisely done.
He made a really handsome box, it's really sharp. He has only to add the handles, and it can be delivered.

Oh that more parents could become involved in their childrens' activites. I had three girls and 4H was their thing. We did all sorts of projects, from sewing to insect collecting, weed identification, and cooking. A lot of these projects carried over into their adult lives.
You and your husband should be proud of yourselves and especially proud of your son. What an honor it is to have him become an Eagle Scout. Congratulations!

Thank you. Like I always tell youngest/tallest nothing worth while comes easy. This was one of those things. It will benefit him all of his life.
