Oh My! that bread is so awesome. It is hot out of the oven, it came out pretty good. I managed to wait a few minutes,( just barely) and then sliced into the end of a cripsy, crunchy warm loaf of lovely.
So good, and so ridiculously simply. I have never had one around long enough that I could freeze one, so I'm not sure how they would freeze.
I do hope you'll give it a try. While it is an "overnight" and the longer the better, it was just as good today as any other loaf I have made. I started it at 11:30, I took it out of the oven baked at 5:45, my husband will be home in a few minutes, and I know how much he loves the warm bread too. And the aroma in the house, what a nice simple joy to come home to from working all day.
It's was snowing those big white fluffy snowflakes, pretty. We usually get that when Lake Erie is not frozen over and the cold air passes and it creates the most beautiful snow, now, it is falling fast, and its fine almost rain like, springtime in NE Ohio.
This will have to do for today, our sky is wall to wall gray. I love to sky watch and you see the most wonderful cloud patterns.
Well, enjoy yourself today, enjoy the simple blessings...remember they are all around us...

I love the name "A Rose by and by", it's just so pretty. You make me want to bake a loaf of bread, and I am not good at baking bread.
I was originally and for years Crochet by the Sea, I changed it eventually when it came to me, that line is in the poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, and it becomes a rose by and by. You really can make this bread, even if you are not a seasoned bread maker, this is doable. It is just the way you see in the post, it is a no frills bread, crunchy and crackly, with holes and all. Today I am making Amish White Bread, a little more work, with a different type of finished product. I appreciate you stopping to make a comment. :)
