I've got a wee bit of free time this week, I call it "my vacation". My husband is away all this glorious week at Boy Scout Summer Camp. He needed to go, and I needed him too. I hope he has a nice long week in the woods, with the tents and cookouts, hikes and what not.
Me?
Loving every minute of it! Because suppertime is not a priority, and we are out of our routine, much less cooking for me. The schedule is not so structured.
Yesterday, I made some beeswax candles, 3 votive and 1 pillar. I have more wax for another "fun day". I soaked some of the willow I picked up at the farmstand, and put it soak in between the showers for the day. It soaked most of yesterday and today I started a wreath, more is soaking.
Today
I've collected some Candula,Lavender,Lemon Verbena, and LemonRose scented geranium from the garden, they will be dehydrated, and added to the Goats Milk Soap Base, I ordered locally, I anticipate that will be here as early as tomorrow.
At night I move the hook, working on a pillow cover. But it has been fun so far. I got my housechores out of the way yesterday. The fuzzy brown little pillows in the picture just below the pink silicon tray are the Hollyhock seeds I've collected thus far. There are more. Anybody need some hollyhock? To the left of the pink tray are beeswax rosettes with the remaining beeswax for candles later on.
The very large Marigolds are very tall, leafy and healthy looking, I am finally getting buds on those..looking forward to that pop of color, This one in particular now has several buds on it, it is about 3' tall, so the flowers I hope will be a good size. I foraged some seeds last year.
Well, back to it.....Enoy your day!
Wow! A 3 foot tall Marigold. That is impressive. I hope it blooms profusely.
ReplyDeleteI sure can understand your 'vacation' being a treat. No meals to make and loads of time to do whatever you please.
Keep having fun.
Enjoy your time home alone. I always considered that a treat as well. Vacationing elsewhere is nice, but being home alone is the best (for a reasonable time.)
ReplyDeleteIt IS fun to have the house to yourself once in awhile! To craft and putter at your ease! I wonder if your jumbo marigolds will be a bright orange? Or more the yellow color? My second-generation marigolds were always "Halloween orange" for some reason!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to get a small break from the every day routine and to have some creative time completely to yourself. All of the things you mentioned that you are working on sound wonderful!
