We were humming along, after those few days of liquid sunshine from the heavens, everything took off and looked lush and healthy. Those scraggly little tomatoes we grew from seed popped and produced some flowers, I thought we might actually get a small harvest of tomatoes.
But...my "deer friends" the ones I love to watch about the neighborhood, and the babies with the spots who are Adorable...had a small feast upon my maters. We had sprayed them and it was "supposed" to stop the critters...they left me a few flowers wasn't that nice.
Oh Bother!
They didn't bother with this....knock on wood!
This is the first Calendula of the season. I hope to harvest more.
This variety I ordered on line is Sunset Bluff
here is the link to the Etsy Shoppe where I purchased them, I also ordered Pink Lavender from
this shoppe, I've got some things growing in pots but have lost track of what is what. Should have marked it. Remember when I left one of garlic bulbs in, left the scape on?
tomorrow it may be full bloomed.
and some forget me nots, from seed.
Any of you grow forget me nots?
I'd like to save the seeds for next year, any of you ever tackled that?

I have never saved seeds but what a great idea.
God bless.
Too bad about your tomatoes being a snack for hungry deer. I'd be pretty unhappy with them. Forget me nots self-seed all over the garden and I pull them out before they all go to seed. Still I have countless little blue blooms popping through the bigger plants.
That Calendula is different, very lovely. Mine are not blooming yet but no doubt will be orange like past years.
