Honeysuckle & Peony.....

Oh, that aroma...whafting around....GLORIOUS.

My love of vintage extends to flowers and gardens. So a few years ago I went to a local garden groups flower sale. First time I ever went, I came home with a honeysuckle plant. It was a sturdy well grown plant, I had a place in the back yard which is shady , I planted it and wished it well, knowing how things in this yard grow. To my surprise it lived and made it through winter, that was probably 3 years ago. It is a strapping plant now, and today it is loaded with blooms....I did snip a cutting to root. The problem is....I put the wee little plant on a trellis..and now there is no hope to remove the trellis,  it is all twined up on there. It's starting to cascade. It's lush and full of buds...
I'm wondering if there is something I can do with the flowers? Oh what a glorious aroma.I can't wait.

Do any of you have ideas to share about this?

The Peony have bloomed, and they are lovely, I can't help but stop each time I pass and smell their fragrance. The hard rains we had yesterday have beaten them down a bit.

It is a cool foggy morn here, the  American Flag is out again this morning. Do you fly our country's flag?  During the summer it is out every day. We had ALOT of rain and I mean deluge yesterday, several times...brought in cooler weather, but oh boy it's foggy. Today is the last day of school
for youngest tallest, he is now a senior. Tomorrow he is going for his driving test..

It's a scout campout weekend, so tomorrow thru Sunday, I'm on my own. I'll not have to cook, unless I want to.hmmmm.......I don't think so😀

Well you all enjoy your weekend.....

  1. In our "neck of the woods" honeysuckle grows rampant, covering fences and even climbing trees. We consider it an unwanted plant, but I have to admit, at night that wonderful smell floats across the fields and we know it's summer.

Your pink peony is beautiful! I have one but it's never bloomed; deer nimble on it in the fall so maybe that's the reason.

  2. I love the wild honeysuckle too. When we first moved here, before we cleared a small spot to build the cabin, the trees and all were covered in honeysuckle. We had to pull lots of it down from the trees and also pull up huge amounts. It still grows around the edge of our property and smells wonderful in the springtime. I left one vine growing near the front door but it became so huge and overwhelming, we had to pull it up too. Oh, your pink peonies are beautiful. I have one bunch that blooms, a dark rose color, and seems like every year when they bloom we have a hard rain storm that beats them down. Do you ever taste the nectar from the honeysuckle? You have such a pretty blog.

  3. Both beautiful photos, it would be so nice if we could "smell" them through the screen.
