Good Morning !  I'm having some fresh brewed coffee, care to join me?

I worked a little bit on the lavender yesterday, I couldn't get down on the ground,  for whatever reason I was all stoved up in the hip joints...oh bother. So  I tried to pull the plant out, it wouldn't budge,
So I had DH dig it out and I replanted the new baby Lavender. I was hoping to get alot of buds of it this year, last year I got a nice amount. I havn't done anything with them yet.

It's a cooler day thankfully, 85 yesterday one extreme to the other.  We had some nice rain which was needed, the gentle soaking in kind. Yesterday I took a trip to a local nursery to see what's showing now. I was looking for something in particular that I had found once there, hoping they would have it again, I've been ordering it from other nurseries now for a few years, this year is no exception.

Have you ever heard of Scented Geraniums? Pelargonium is their actual name, they are in the geranium family, but are not known or desired for their flowers, but rather their leaves. They are fragrant, Rose, Lemon Rose, Coconut,Mint it goes on and on. I prefer the Rose scented ones, and I usually get the lemon rose. This year I found one it's call a true rose, it is reported that this is the vintage variety that the colonist used and carried with them when they traveled across the prairie, I don't know if that's true, but you had me at vintage, colonist and prairie. I order it from

Tru Rose
They are annuals, so this year I WILLKEEP IT IN THE HOUSE, and try to keep it alive. It is said that they made rose cake with it?  Anybody ever hear of that?  The leaves can be used in soaps, potpourri.  So I'm looking forward to that.  I bought a bleeding heart ( old fashioned) and DH put it in the garden for me we removed another bush which stayed alive but never grew to the side of the house to see if it will grow there. And a basil plant for pesto.

Well, if I don't get up now, and put up my hair, I won't get anything done...I need to get dressed and do so laundry, and maybe today it will be banana bread..

Enjoy your day

  1. I always loved browsing around in the plant nursery. The local one didn't have the plants labeled very well so I was never sure about the type I was buying or the cost. You asked about my lilies. The rose colored Asiatic lily is trying its best to be pretty among the bruised and tattered plants. Last year the buds froze, no blooms. This year it was covered with buds, then the two mishaps: squashed by the falling tree and then the tree top dragged over it. So, I suppose it's saying, "I'll show you what I can do!"

Last Saturday we had another wind storm, and now the yard is full of sticks and small branches again, just as I had it mowed and all the debris picked up from before. More strong storms predicted for tonight.

  2. I over wintered my geraniums last year and thankfully they did well. Don't be tempted to put them out too soon as they yellow very quickly if you do, hope that helps.

Have a very blessed day and take delight even in the simple things.
